Women in Art

This posting isn't about invitations or weddings, however a friend of mine just sent me the link to this amazing Digital Art video called "Women in Art" by Philip Scott Johnson (eggman913).
This video is truly beautiful and inspiring, I love to see how the faces morph into each other and how the different artistic styles and even hair styles change in the different artwork pieces. Enjoy!

Happy Spring!

Yeah! Can you believe it's Spring? (finally!) and to start the new season off right, I'm going to feature a couple of Spring-inspired custom designs that we just completed for two May '08 weddings. We will feature their full wedding stories in some future posts (so stay tuned!).

Lauren & Todd's custom wedding invitations were inspired by fresh Spring florals in shades of pink with bright green accents. This is their colour scheme for the entire wedding, Lauren also wanted to incorporate a bit of "bling" (of course!) into the design and we came up with a floral-wreath inspired monogram with "L & T" for them to be used throughout their wedding stationery on menus, place cards, etc.

For Christina & Nathan's custom design, they requested soft pink and sage green tones and wanted some ivory shades to create a feeling of a soft sunset or candle light. They are having an outdoor wedding surrounded by trees, so we incorporated a tree motif into their monogram to add an illustrative element.

So, if you find yourself stuck on deciding on a color scheme, look no further than your own backyard. Mother Nature is THE best artist out there, just look to the natural world for your inspiration and you just can't go wrong!

I have found the most spectacular wedding shoes ever! Check out these Jimmy Choo shoes with stunning sparkle, and beautiful lines, very timeless...this is the "Gale" design and it's sure to go with almost any style of wedding gown.

And by the way, in case you are still trying to decide on the perfect invitation - they also go very nicely with our "Blush Champagne" design too!

Gorgeous Gowns

I love anything custom and fabulous, that's why today's posting is about the oh-so-talented Lisa Van Hattem - custom bridal gown designer. Once you see her original designs there's no way you'll be able to purchase anything off the rack. With her pricing starting at $700 for a custom design that's made only for you...your body type, specific measurements, color scheme...a designer gown by Lisa can fit almost every bride's budget.

And here is my ultimate fave, I almost wanted to get married all over again when I saw it! This was custom made for a bride having a beach wedding, don't you just love the lace and elegant satin bow? So if you have your dream dress all sketched out already, just bring it over to Lisa for a consultation and she can turn your ideas into couture reality!

Featured Photo

Today's featured photo is from the New York-based Belathee Photography, they have a unique balance of fine art, photojournalism and portraiture. I just love this photo featuring a bride walking the lush, tree-lined path - it has such an intimate and tranquil feeling, just gorgeous!

Stacey & Ryan

For Stacey and Ryan's romantic wedding we created a custom design that was a soft ivory colour to complement her Vera Wang dress and her gorgeous reception location at The Carlu in Toronto.

Designed a custom monogram in soft shades of gray, a big puffy satin ribbon bow in ivory took center stage on their invitation and it was all wrapped in a beautiful white box. We did the calligraphy for the escort cards (guest's table number was inside the envelope) and also designed their menus which were framed and sat on the elegant tables.

Their gorgeous photos were done by 5ive15ifteen Photo Company.

You have to check out her blog, not only are her postings super fabulous - but I also find the way she writes is so fun, it's like your best girl pal sharing all her wedding knowledge with you!
