Tanya & Craig

I just received these photos from Crystal Adair-Benning from Distinct Occasions Event Planning, of Tanya & Craig's beautiful wedding at Wolfe Island, Ontario this past Saturday. Their color scheme was primarily white - the custom invitation that we designed for them was based on our "Satin" design with a white satin ribbon belly band and pearly white cards inside the pocket folder.

Tanya loved the pearl and crystal jewel embellishment on her invitation belly band so much that her planner incorporated them into her bouquet, cake, napkin holders and chair backs for that elegantly coordinated look. We also designed their Ceremony Programs and Seating Chart - which featured their favorite flower names instead of table numbers.

The bride was stunning in her gorgeous silk, organza & tulle Oscar de la Renta gown and Christian Louboutin heels. The guests dined outdoors under crystal chandeliers hung from the white tented ceiling amid the glow of candlelight.

Invitation & Dress Pairings I

In many ways deciding on an invitation and deciding on a wedding gown are very similar. You have to consider the style that appeals to you: traditional, formal, informal, modern?
The cut of the dress or invitation: a-line, sheath, mermaid, princess OR rectangular, square, pocket folder, tri-fold, in a silk box, in a silk folio, etc. What are your main colours? Are you going to have a metallic accent such as silver or gold? Any embellishments? Ribbons?

I thought I'd create some invitation and dress pairings for those brides who are looking for inspiration in making their decision on a coordinating bridal gown and couture invitation.
Here is the "Satin" design from our Prestige Collection, it's a pocket folder with an embossed floral cover in white with an ivory satin ribbon belly band and pearl and rhinestone embellishment.

Here are some coordinating wedding gown ideas:
This romantic Vera Wang ballgown is the perfect shade of ivory (like "Satin"'s ribbon belly band) and has a gorgeous bustled skirt with antique embroidery.

How about this Vera Wang silk taffeta mermaid gown, it has the white from the invitation and is simple in shape while still romantic with the rouched bodice and bubble hem - just like the practical shape of the pocket folder which still has the romantic touch of the embossed floral cover.
Lastly, this is a gorgeous gown by Reem Acra from her Fall '08 Collection - the detailed bodice and satin belly band is a perfect match to the "Satin" invitation design.

Georgia & George {a monogram and a marriage}

I love monograms, they are a wonderful way to "personally brand" your wedding day and give it a unique and seamless look. I wanted to featured the monogram we designed for Georgia & George (how cute are their names?) using their first initials and the initial of the new last name.

Georgia was so thrilled with this custom monogram that she decided to base her entire wedding decor around it (we were so honoured!). The monogram was on the invitations (she went with the Prestige Collection's "Satin" design), menus, programs, place cards, in crystal beads hand-sewn onto a custom aisle runner, carved into an ice sculpture and beamed across the dance floor! Doret & Gordon

Doret and Gordon were recently married at the luxurious Royal Plantation Hotel in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Jamaica. Their wedding celebration was a beautiful combination of Doret's Jamaican background and Gordon's Chinese culture, so we customized their wedding invitations by creating a "double happiness" symbol that graced the invitation and all of the corresponding reply and information cards. The pocket-folder design is a great way to organize all of the information you wish to communicate to your guests. You can have cards for Travel Information, Things to Do, Map of the Area, etc. Talented local photographer Jodi Renee captured some gorgeous photos of the happy couple.

Christina & Scott

Christina and Scott had a fabulous wedding at the Belhurst Castle in New York, they wanted a couture wedding invitation that reflected this regal setting and they decided on the elegant "Satin" design from the Prestige Collection. We designed their Ceremony Programs and Menus to coordinate with the soft ivory colour scheme and we are currently working on their custom Tri-Fold Photo Thank You card that features 10 photos from their wedding.
